CDBC - Child Protection

3 Nov 2017 by Chelsea Whyte

At the Central Districts Basketball Club we believe that Child Protection is of high importance, and we strive to provide a child safe environment for your children. We would like to share the following information with parents/caregivers:

The Children’s Protection Act 1993 (SA) requires all persons over the age of 18 who are working with children under the age of 18 to undergo a police check.

Further to this, Basketball SA’s Members Protection Policy requires all coaches and assistant coaches to complete the coach’s registration which includes:

1. Providing us with a current Police Certificate or DCSI Screening letter – BSA then conduct assessments of suitability for working with children.
2. They must also complete 2 online training modules through ‘Play by the Rules’, and provide us with the certificates for ‘Harassment and discrimination’ and ‘Child Protection’.
3. They must sign and agree to abide to the Coaches Code of Ethics.

Our club has formally adopted the Basketball Australia Member Protection By-Law (see link)
