Norther Roar - Season Update

15 Nov by Jamie Phillips

Thank you to everyone for being a part of the Northern Roar Summer season for 2024/25. As we are a few games in now, we would like to take this opportunity to update you on a few items to help make things smoother going forwards.

UNIFORMS
We have had an issue with our uniform supplier. Last week only 2 out of 3 boxes were delivered, missing a box of shorts. This will be delivered Saturday 16th November, and we will have at training Sunday 17th November for collection. The other issue is that only half of our order was processed. Only our Adults sizes we actioned (small to XL), and therefore our children’s sizes (12-16) were missed by the supplier and have now been actioned but may still be another 3 weeks away. We apologise for this inconvenience. At training on Sunday 17th November we will have borrow district uniforms that players requiring a smaller size can wear until the Northern Roar uniforms arrive. Black shorts are allowed to continue to be worn as ACBA are very lenient with their uniform policy for the start of the season.

GAMES and SEASON DATES
The last game before Xmas will be Saturday 7th December, therefore no training will occur after this date, until we resume on February 1st, and training will resume Sunday 19th January. The week before the resumption of the season, we will be placing our Northern Roar teams into the STARplex Australia Day Carnival (see more info below). Summer season finishes on March 29th, with the following 2 weeks for finals. Therefore, our last training will be Sunday April 6th.

2023/24 PRESENTATIONS
As Riverbanks college courts are unavailable of Sunday the 1st December, we will use this date to hold our presentations for last season. This will be help in the school auditorium from 10am. A map will be forwarded closer to the date. All players from last season are encouraged to attend as there will be trophies handed out to some players for the season.

CLUB FEES
Per season $360 for first season (includes uniform)
$300 for ongoing seasons (no uniform)
There are still many players with outstanding fees. Last chance for payment will be by Friday 22nd November. Failure to do so will unfortunately see your child not allowed to take the court from Saturday 23rd November.

TRAINING
NO TRAINING will be held on Sunday 1st December due to unavailability of Riverbanks College, and therefore our last seasons presentations will be held. Therefore, our last Sunday training before the Xmas break will be Sunday 24th November.

STARplex AUSTRALIA DAY CARNIVAL
Over the Australia Day long weekend, there is an annual basketball carnival held in the Gawler region, which includes teams/clubs from all over the state attending. Every year we give all our district and domestic teams the opportunity to play in the carnival. Coaches will be asking for player availability in the next 1-2 weeks, so we can decide which teams will play and possibly we will combine some teams if there is some player unavailability. We do understand that some people go away for the long weekend, but if available this is a great opportunity for our teams and players top play 4-5 games over a weekend, which helps them improve their skills and team cohesion. Cost to play this carnival is paid for by the club, therefore the is no cost for each player/team to play.

STACK TEAMAPP
If you are not on your Stack Teamapp chat groups for your team, then you MUST do this ASAP. From there you can access team info as well as have access to the team chat group. This is where the team, coaches and club can communicate, which makes our teams run so much smoother. You MUST advise your coach/team by the Thursday each week if you are available for the game that week. This allows time to find ‘fill ins’ if required.

TEAM PAY
Please make sure that each week you have available funds on your credit/debit card linked to your teampay account. If not, this makes it very difficult for coaches to organise the payments. Please also remove the PIN/LOCK function in the settings to allow for payments to be efficient. Failing to do these 2 measures will likely mean your child cannot play that game, as they won’t be able to pay their game fees.

Thanks again for a great start to the season. There are always some teething issues, but we are getting on track, and I am sure the boys are enjoying themselves on the court 🙌
