It is with a huge amount of excitement for the Club, for our Northern Roar players and indeed for Basketball in South Australia that we introduce to you a brand new Junior Basketball League in South Australia. 

We have been working behind the scenes putting in an incredible amount of hours for about 6 months working on how a Basketball League could work in the North Western side of Adelaide and together with West Adelaide Basketball Club, North Adelaide Basketball Club and Woodville Warriors we formed an alliance and then a company to create an Australian first league.  It is being professionally run by a very respected Basketball administrator in Sue Wood, who will be the GM of Operations.

There is a board to oversee the Alliance which consists of the 4 presidents of each District club and then 3 independent board members.  It has been set up to an incredibly high professional level.

AJBL will be a PLACE TO PLAY FOR ALL PLAYERS

As part of this alliance all four district clubs have separated a little from their domestic teams so they now have their own identity, so for the first time Northern Roar now has their own logo and website www.northernroar.com.au

What does this mean for our current Northern Roarers?  Not a great deal, apart from having a bit more of an identity, it simply means we will no longer play in the ACBA competition and will now be playing in the AJBL competition starting Term 4 this year, against Port Wildcats, Westside, North City Stars, Wings Academy, Transition Sports and many more that are looking at joining.  What it does do is open Northern Roar to a bigger number of players from our region.

There will also be some Northern Roar merchandise coming soon as well! :)

It new, it’s exciting and we believe it is going to be a huge boost for Basketball in South Australia and especially in our region
with 10’s of thousands of new homes being built between now and 2050. 

We will be looking for a “sub committee” of Northern Roar families to help and assist in growing Northern Roar in this League.  Stay tuned on more information when we call for volunteers!
